1. Do you deliver?
Yes, delivery is available only during special holidays or large event orders. A delivery fee applies, depending on the location of your event. $10.00 up to 10 miles, 10-15 miles $20.00. Order pickup is in Lockport, IL. - just near 159th & Farrell Rd. Exact location address is given at time of payment.
2. Phone Number?
Since cake baking/decorating is not my primary job/career, I am not and cannot be available to take calls throughout the day/night. My main career is my top priority, and I am grateful for everyone who can understand the importance. I am here to answer any and all questions via email. Email also allows me to keep every detail about your order. There is a lot of information for each custom cake/order and having this information readily available for you and I, is extremely important. I do my best to answer in a fairly quick timeframe. I understand not everyone enjoys using email as communication, however due to privacy and job restrictions, at this time, email is the best way for me to continue to be able to correspond with you all. I absolutely enjoy doing both - working and cake decorating! Thank you for your understanding.
3. Does my cake require refrigeration?
YES! YES! YES! I highly recommend refrigerating all cakes until about 45 mins or so before serving. If you are planning to have your cake in a warmer temperature atmosphere, please do not leave it sitting out for more than 15- 20 minutes. All my buttercream is made with butter, and BUTTER MELTS! If it's too hot for you, it's even hotter for the cake! This includes inside room temperatures. Remember to check that thermostat and add 5 degrees to account for all the body heat during your event. Cakes that are decorated with fresh fruit or fillings, cream cheese or whipped cream icing, must be kept refrigerated until you are ready to serve. These ingredients must not go above 41 degrees to ensure food safety.
4. How far in advance should I place my order?
The earlier the better! For custom cakes, 2 - 4 weeks prior to your event is greatly appreciated. I accept orders up to 6 weeks in advance. There are certainly instances when a last-minute custom cake can be created. A "Swift Service Fee" will be applied. Please contact me right away! Any custom cake order with less than 10 days' notice will have an additional fee of 20% - 30% charge of the total quote applied depending on the complexity of your design. **However, Signature items only require a few days' notice if the date is not already fully booked - please inquire!
5. How do I pay for my order?
In order for me to confirm your order and secure your date, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. The remainder is due at time of pickup, unless otherwise specified. This can be done by VISA, Master Card, Discover, American Express (3% service fee) , Zelle Quick Pay, Venmo, or you can drop off at my location. If your deposit is not paid, the date will be left open for the next customer.
6. Why is my cake so expensive?
Yes, Custom Cakes are expensive. Please be aware that my cakes are custom made every time you place your order. Individual attention is paid to each and every cake I make. With that, they will cost more than a grocery store bakery. As an at-home baker, I cannot mass produce. I also do not have the ability to purchase items in mass amounts to get bakery/store discounts. Therefore, your ingredients do not sit on the shelf for months on end. Everything is purchased fresh. Almost all of my fillings are made from scratch and ALL my buttercream is made fresh with each order. My cakes are also 3-layer cakes, not the standard 2-layer bakery style or grocery 2-layer style cake. Typically orders involving more intricate designs or additional components (special fillings, fondant pieces, flowers, gold accents, cookies, chocolates, mini liquor bottles, etc.) are subject to a higher price as they take additional time to make and each component costs extra. Prices are calculated based on cost breakdown that include inquiry time, shopping, planning, prepping, baking, decorations, decorating time, photos, packaging, and clean up. On average a standard cake, with no intricate detailing, from start to finish can take approximately 2 - 4 hours. However, on average a custom cake takes between 5-8 or more hours. This does not include any baking time! Signature Cakes are a great alternative if you have no specific theme and would love a delicious freshly baked cake for any and all events! Signature Cakes also do not require as much notice as a custom cake. Check out the full menu!
7. Why is the cost of signature cakes so different?
Signature cakes are all set-designs with no customization, so they do not require the labor hours or specific/special ingredients that a custom cake requires and therefore the cost can be reduced.
8. Are all custom designs available?
Since I do not work with all fondant cakes, own an edible printer, or work with specific themes/novelty cakes, not all designs are possible. If your specific cake design is out of my design ability, I promise to let you know right away. I will not take an order that I cannot fulfill. I am here to ensure your absolute satisfaction.
9. I've made a deposit but I need to cancel. Can my deposit be refunded?
I understand that unexpected situations may occur. Please keep in mind once your order is confirmed, planning and preparations have already begun. The calendar is then marked off. Depending on the time of cancellation, refunds can't be guaranteed.
10. Do you offer fondant covered cakes?
I do not offer ALL fondant cakes. I only offer some small fondant details on a buttercream cake.
11,. Do you offer any allergy-friendly options?
At the current time, I do not offer allergy-friendly options.
